Heat generation accounts for about half of the final energy demand in the European Union. This sector therefore plays an essential role in reaching national and international climate goals, accompanied by the decarbonisation of the energy system. In order to be able to leave fossil energy sources behind in the near future, the energy transition will have to be based on a shift in the heating sector as well as a combination of different energy sectors (hybridisation).
With ambitious climate goals set for the future, energy-flexible buildings and estates will play an increasingly important role. This also applies to innovative, sustainable and economic system solutions for old buildings using prefabricated concepts.
The producing industry accounts for about 30% of energy demand in the EU. It plays an important role in reaching national as well as international climate goals and in reducing fossil CO2 emissions.
